Knox and Knox Certified Public Accountants was established in 1986, moving to the present downtown location in 2003. The building in which the firm is located has a varied history. Part of the building dates back to 1856 when it was the Manson House Hotel. It was later used as a temporary Post Office while the current Post Office was being built. It has been a poolroom, a taxi stand, a radio shop, a video rental and tanning salon, and a pizza shop. Prior to the accounting firm's move, the building was completely remodeled and renovated. In July 2011, the building qualified for National Register Status under provisions of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 as amended.
