Volunteer
Want to volunteer for Main Street Orrville?
Here's what to expect.
Main Street Orrville doesn't believe in holding a meeting for the sake of holding a meeting. We understand that our volunteers are giving one of their most precious resources, their time. That's why we have volunteer oportunities tailored to fit your schedule. Just want to volunteer for a shift at an event? No problem. Or, you would like to take a piece of a larger project? We can accomodate you. Of course, if you would like to serve on a committee and plan projects~ we've got a space for you, too.
Most committees meet once monthly (those working on special project may meet more often depending on schedules and due dates.) Volunteers choose the projects (or piece) they want to work on, and most of the assignments can be accomplished on their own time, wherever is convenient for them. Volunteers can usually expect to put in 1 to 4 hours an month. Sound like something that may fit your schedule? Continue reading to learn more about how we operate.
All of Main Street Orrville's work is done through
volunteer committees.
Work is done by following the National Trust Main Street Center's 4-Point Approach® which distributes our tasks over the following committees:
Design Committee: works to get downtown Orrville into top physical shape. Let's face it, if downtown doesn't look good then we'll have a much harder time attracting businesses and guests. Historic preservation is a key element to the work of the Design Committee.
- Are you an artist, architecture buff, or preservationist? Then you will probably love this commitee.
- Works to create an inviting atmosphere through public and private spaces.

Economic Restructuring Committee: works to improve the downtown's economic base through business retention and expansion programs.
- A perfect fit for numbers and idea people.
- Develops projects to strengthen existing businesses and welcome new ones into our downtown.

Organization Committee: this is our administration committee and is comprised of Main Street Orrville Board Executive Committee.
- Promotes the program to the public; recruits and rewards volunteers.
- Develops fundraising plans, gathers funds from key stakeholders.
- Establishes relationships with other entities: city government, civic organizations, etc.
- Read the committee handbook to learn more.
Promotion Committee: markets the downtown's unique assets to bring people downtown. The committee works to sell a positive image of the district and encourages opportunities to live, work, play, and invest in downtown Orrville.
- Meets the 3rd Monday of each month, 8 a.m. @ Heartland Point.
- Creates a positive image through advertising, retail promotional activity, and special events organized by local volunteers.
